THE BRANDS INNOVATING THE CATWALK IN 2020 | JUST BEING MEG

So if you didn't already know, we just had Milan Fashion Week (and the season is almost finished, with Paris Fashion Week.) Here we saw Jeremy Scott showcase his SS21 collection for Moschino, but not like we've ever seen a collection showcased before.  MOSCHINO SS21 Have you ever seen a 30-inch collection? Well, now you have, as we saw multiple marionettes created as models, wear the 40 looks down the catwalk. The collection was originally made lifesized and then the looks were created for the marionettes.  Not only was the gorgeous collection created on the marionettes, however, we also saw editors in the front row.  Although this collection cost significantly more to showcase than your typical runway, the impact this has had is huge.  Jeremy Scott is leading the way in creativity. With COVID-19 giving us a barrier when it comes to social interaction, we need to think of new, innovative (and safe) ways to carry on as normal. This show is just the start.  But Jeremy isn't t

THE BIGGEST FASHION TRENDS SUMMER 2020 HAS BROUGHT US SO FAR | SUMMER HAUL | JUST BEING MEG

I've always wanted to switch up what I wear. I always say, if I had the money, I'd dress the way I wanted. Well, the universe must have listened because lockdown happened and I have not done a  lot of saving (oops).  As I've spent endless hours scrolling through Instagram, I've noticed retailers are stocking exactly the style I've always wanted. So I have ordered... a lot. From summer pastels, frills and power pieces you need to add to your wardrobe immediately. This post has it all.  So if you're curious to know the biggest fashion trends Summer 2020 has had to bring us so far or if you just want to see what I've been purchasing, then keep scrolling for some serious outfit inspiration.  OVERSIZED BLAZERS Make a real statement with an oversized Blazer. This can make your outfit go from basic to business b*tch in two seconds. I'm obsessing over the clean, smart, fashionable businesswoman aesthetic at the minute and I want 100 of these

THE FUTURE OF FASHION | #LFWMENS GOES DIGITAL | THE RUN DOWN OF FASHION WEEK | JUST BEING MEG

Throwback to April, the British Fashion Council announced that for the first time in its 40 year history, London Fashion Week Men's would become a digital-only event.  The digital event, which kicked off on the 12th June, has been solely focused on hitting 'reset'.  I really liked the meaning behind this year's fashion week. With everything going on in the world right now, with Covid-19 and the black lives matter movement, the entire world has hit the reset button and is changing in so many ways.   Due to the virus, everyone's lives have come to a complete halt. Gone are the days of running for the tube and skipping lunches because we are too busy. We're connecting and realising what's important. We are putting our energy into making change and fighting for what's right with global protests for the Black Lives Matter movement. Quoting from Louise Gray's film from LFW "emotional and cultural change is needed" and that's exactly what is h

SUPPORT BLACK-OWNED FASHION BRANDS | #BLM | JUST BEING MEG

I'm never usually stuck for words. Anyone that knows me will know I love to have an opinion.  But for once I'm unsure of words to use. But please allow me to collate my thoughts.  I am outraged. Another innocent black life, taken.  Yesterday like most of the world, I participated in Black Out Tuesday. I spent the day educating myself, sharing, signing, donating but it doesn't feel like enough. There are no words that are going to make this better. What needs to happen is change. Real change. And as I sit here whilst day 8 of the protests continue, I'm filled with even just an ounce of hope. As I said I'm never stuck for words, but most importantly I'm never quiet and never will be quiet. My platform although small and mainly made up of friends and family, I want to fill with whatever change I can contribute.  It's important to note that this doesn't stop here. Once you remove that black square, the problem is still there. We must do what we can to fight.

PAULS BOUTIQUE: WHY THEY'RE WINNING AND HOW REBRANDING HELPED THEM TO SUCCEED | JUST BEING MEG

My university thrives in its guest speakers and this weeks lecture was no exception. This lecture allowed us the privilege of being introduced to  Daniel Morris, Managing Director for Pauls Boutique. His role as a Managing Director includes setting the company strategy, driving international growth and managing the team. Morris gave the most interesting lecture on how he turned the brand around on a three-year plan. 3 years ago if you would have asked me what I thought of Pauls Boutique, tasteless and cheap spring to mind and 2 hours before the lecture I would have said the same, after the 2-hour lecture my perceptions of the brand have been completely changed! I think Daniel Morris is a genius, changing the brand from tack to a classy, sophisticated accessory brand. He says that a brand is all about "creating an identity and how you portray it". Here are just a few of my favourites from the collection: Shop the Christmas collection HERE Shop the

IT'S # LFWEND & EXPERIENCING THE ISSA FASHION SHOW | JUST BEING MEG

It's London Fashion Weekend 2015 After having such an amazing time exploring trends at London Fashion Week, (check out that post HERE if you haven't already) my Fashion Week adventure continued at London Fashion Weekend. Due to the inconsistency of TFL rail services, getting to the venue was an absolute nightmare. To say we were cutting it thin was an understatement. Unfortunately, we got there at 7pm, meaning we were refused entry to the original show we booked. So what happens when a thrifty northern girl doesn't get what she paid for? She makes sure she does. After a bit of sweet persuasion to the lovely security lady, we were snuck into the ISSA show and managed to score second-row seats. The show was incredible, sporting bold prints and fabrics in lovely evening pieces. Below are a few of my personal favourites. After the show, my friends and I explored the venue and of course we had to take home some memorabilia.  Thanks for reading! Just Being Me

IT'S #LFW | JUST BEING MEG

London Fashion Week 2015 | Just Being Meg The most awaited time of the year for British fashion,  it's London Fashion Week!  As a fashion student, I had the opportunity to visit the fashion week venue, allowing me to research any upcoming trends through the power of street style. As I'm originally from Hull, this will be my first experience of Fashion Week and I couldn't be more excited. As well as gaining trend insight, I also had the privilege of meeting YouTuber, beauty guru and fashion blogger @inthefrow, also known as Victoria.  With Victoria's chic and luxury style,  she is definitely one of my biggest fashion inspirations.  Below I discuss the trends I believe we will be seeing in future. Oversized & Graphic Pieces Everywhere you looked, you saw oversized sweaters with bold graphic prints. Paired with simplistic trousers and shorts, making the sweaters the focal piece of the look. This is a trend we see often and can only continue to develop. Pastels Another
